Dr. Leslie Baumann

Dr. Leslie Baumann M.D. is an internationally renowned board certified dermatologist; NY Times best-selling author; media personality and lecturer; and CEO of the Baumann Cosmetic & Research Institute-a full-service research, educational and medical services facility serving the cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and healthcare industries. She heads the advisory board of Skin Type Solutions, Inc. - the revolutionary web site and skin typing system providing consumers with a reliable source of information on all things relative to skin and body care. Known around the world, Dr. Baumann most recently was named one of the most influential visionaries in the beauty industry by Allure magazine (March 2010).

Dr. Baumann received her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine and did her residency at University of Miami where for remained for 12 years and was appointed Professor of Dermatology and Chief of the Division of Cosmetic Dermatology. Dr. Baumann was also the Founder of the University Of Miami Cosmetic Medicine & Research Institute, the first academic center of its kind in the US.

Dr. Baumann authors the popular twice weekly Yahoo! Health blog “The Skin Guru’’ as well as writing a twice monthly column in the Miami Herald. She authored the book that dermatologists around the world use to learn cosmetic dermatology. Cosmetic Dermatology: Principles and Practice (McGraw-Hill 2009), is the best-selling cosmetic dermatology textbook in the world with a recent new edition (March 2009) and 8 additional languages to come. She also literally wrote the book on skin care with her NY Times bestseller- The Skin Type Solution (Bantam 2005). This book revealed her revolutionary, patent-pending skin typing system, and described for the first time the 16 unique Baumann Skin Types®. This skin typing system is the new gold standard for skin typing in the dermatology world based on Dr. Baumann’s many years of scientific validation and being on the forefront of cosmetic dermatology research. Shaolin Hong, M.D.

Shaolin (Sean) is a cosmetic dermatologist and researcher in cosmetic medicine in Beijing, China. He has got medical training from Peking University Health Science Center and owned master degree from Peking University and doctorate degree in dermatology from Peking Union Medical College Hospital.

From 2003 to 2008, he participated in Duke University Medical Center as a research fellow. He has conducted two NIH RO1 research projects during his Duke stay. As an international clinical fellow, he received clinical training from the University of Miami Cosmetic Center.

His special interests include minimally invasive procedures in cosmetic dermatology, and laser treatment in skin of color. He has been actively involved in international and domestic conferences in cosmetic dermatology. He authors several books in dermatology and is column writer in Dermatology World Report (China). Currently Dr Hong is medical director of Beijing Jingcheng Laser & Cosmetic Academy. He is also specialist in several cosmetic and anti-aging clinics in Beijing city.

Erica Monteiro, M.D.

Dr. Erica Monteiro is a Cosmetic Dermatologist at Federal University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Currently, she has her own a Private Practice, is doing research, and is a Medical Consultant in Cosmetics at Brazilian Pharmaceutical Industries in Sao Paulo, Brazil. She is an expert in Cosmetics, dermal fillers and botulinum toxin.

 

Esperanza Welsh, M.D.

Dr. Esperanza Welsh is a Dermatologist with specialization in Cosmetic Dermatology. She has earned postgraduate fellowship certifications in Dermatopathology and Cosmetic Dermatology. She obtained her medical degree with honors from the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León in Monterrey, Mexico and completed her Dermatology residency training and her Fellowship certifications at the University of Miami. The Dermatology Foundation of South Florida awarded her the Clinical Dermatology Award, while the University of Miami granted her the Excellence in Dermoscopy Award. Additionally, she earned the Dermatologist Investigation Research Fellowship Award by the Dermatology Foundation. She has written numerous articles and chapters in national and international medical literature. She has lectured in several International Dermatology meetings in Europe, North and South America. Currently, she is working in private practice in Monterrey, Mexico. Dr. Welsh has a special interest in novel light and laser technologies in the treatment and prevention of skin diseases, aging and cosmetic disorders.

 

Aseel Tawalbeh, M.D.

After graduating from Medical School, Aseel did an accredited training in Surgery, Gynecology, and then completed a Residency Training Program in Dermatology, where she obtained the Jordanian Board Certification in Dermatology in 2003.

As a Teaching Instructor and a Specialist in Dermatology, She joined the Faculty of the Department of Dermatology at Al-Bashir Hospital in Amman (The major medical training center for the Ministry of Health in Jordan).

As an International Fellow, she participated in the University of Miami Graduate Education Specialty Training Program (G.E.S.T) in Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery at Miller School of Medicine, Miami, Florida.

Adding to her USA experience, Dr. Tawalbeh completed the International Fellowship Program in Dermatology at Harvard University, Boston, Massachusetts.

During her rotation and visits at The Baumann’s Institute, Aseel learned much from Dr. Baumann, this added much to her experience in Skin Analysis, Skin Typing, and Skin Solutions.

In 2010, Dr. Tawalbeh was the first Jordanian Specialist to integrate the skin analysis in a Medical Aesthetic Center where she’s currently practicing in Amman, Jordan.

Nawal Joma, M.D.

Nawal Joma is a Consultant Dermatologist with specialization in Cosmetic Dermatology and Lasers. Her post MD training was conducted in Miami, Dallas and Beverly Hills.

Nawal has been practicing at the Armed Forces Hospital in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia since 1995. She recently opened her private practice Medart Clinics, and specializes in General / Cosmetic Dermatology and Plastic Surgery.

Nawal has presented in International Conferences and collaborated with several International Institutes. She has received an Award for her poster presentation in Genetic Diseases. She speaks regularly in national symposiums and on TV about skincare and women’s issues.

Nawal's main concentration is on skincare, Lasers and radiofrequency devices.

 

Mukta Sachdev, M.D.

Mukta Sachdev is a Consultant Dermatologist at the Manipal Hospital, Bangalore, India working in the field of Dermatology since 1995.

She has trained post MD Dermatology in Florida, USA with Dr. Baumann in the field of Cosmetic Dermatology and in the UK in Practical Dermatology-DPD Cardiff and from Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Glasgow. She is a regular guest speaker at International, National and Zonal forums sharing her experience in the field of Cosmetic Dermatology.

Her special interests include Cosmetic Dermatology in Skin of Color with Cosmeceuticals and Lasers.

She is currently a Consultant for several Companies and an Investigator for Clinical trials for both pharmaceutical and cosmeceutical products. She also works with laser equipment and investigative procedures including measurement equipment, such as a corneometer, and a dermaspectrometer for the measurement of pigmentation.
