I posted this in the general section, but thought I should post here as well in order to get more responses:

< I recently finished the book and purchased some new facial products yesterday - and am very happy to see MUCH less shine today!!!

Anyway, I bought the Skin Effects (Dover) Adv. Brightening cream and plan on using it - but I keep reading that you're not supposed to use hydroquinine when using benzoyl peroxide.  I'm using Neutrogena's On the Spot (2.5 % BP), but am not sure if I can use it with the Skin Effects.  The book doesn't say anything about not using these two at the same time (actually, one of the sections even says to use a lightening lotion  before pimple spot treatment).  I'm not sure what to do.

Hey, just found your post, and remembered that I tried that same lightening product a couple of years ago.  I was a "sensitive" at that time, and using it just a couple of nights, while using the Roc retinol cream, nearly ate the hide of my face!  I think that, if I had continued to use it, it would have blistered my skin - or worse.  I had used the Roc cream for years, so it was either the Dr. Dover's or the combination of the two that was way too much for my skin to take.  Benzoyl peroxide, being pretty potent, like retinol, would have probably created the same problem for me had I used it in combination with the Dover's.

I started using the Skinceuticals Phyto+ to lighten spots, and continue to use Roc night cream with retinol, and Roc 30 SPF lotion during the day.  That combination calms my rosacea, doesn't cause me to have acne, and keeps my freckles, sun-spots, and redness under control.  I apply the Phyto+ every time I was my face, let sink in for a couple of minutes, then apply the retinol at night, sunscreen in the morning.  After a year or so on the Phyto I wondered if it were really effective, so I stopped after using up the last bit.  After not applying it for a couple of months, I could see how well it had worked - my rosacea worsened and spots intensified.  So I've been using it since then.

This is a late response, but might help someone else avoid the pain and expense.

Sounds like a good combination to get rid of old blemish spots too.  Thanks for sharing!
